Visitor Visa

Required Documents List

Requirements Description
(stay in Taiwan for less than 180 days)
1. Application form Go to website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw. Fill out the application form online and print it out. Make sure the application form shows a bar code on it. Sign the application form.
2. Two color passport-size (45 mm in height and 35 mm in width) photos Two color passport-size photos with a white background taken within 6 months.
3. Passport and one photocopy of the passport The passport must be valid for at least 6 months with blank pages left in it. One photocopy of the passport bio-page including the holder's picture is required.
4. Original and one photocopy of letter of approval issued by university /college or competent authorities of education
  1. During their stay, exchange students are required to follow the instructions of the “Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan.” 
  2. For university/college exchange students, a letter of approval issued by the university/college they intend to enroll in is required. 
  3. For senior high school students, a letter of approval issued by the Ministry of Education or city/county Bureau of Education is required.
5. Original and one photocopy of admission permit Please submit the original Admission Letter issued by Chang Gung University and its copy.
6. Original and one photocopy of the overseas school’s record of enrollment The record of enrollment or student ID issued by the overseas school which the student is originally from.
7. Other supporting documents To be decided on a case-by-case basis. Students who apply for a Resident Visa after having arrived in the R.O.C.(Taiwan) are required to present also one photocopy of the Visitor Visa and the immigration entry stamp.

Remarks

  1. Requirements #5 & #6 are provided by Chang Gung University.
  2. Please fill out the visa application form and submit all the required documents to R.O.C. embassies or missions in your home country.
  3. Please do not enter Taiwan with visa-exempt entry. It is valid for 30-90 days only and is not extendable.

Converting a Visitor Visa to an Alien Resident Certificate

Students entering Taiwan with a visitor visa due to provisional diplomas or transcripts can apply for an ARC directly without needing to convert the visitor visa into a resident visa first.
  • The required documents are the same as those for a resident visa application(see here).
  • The addition of the CGU enrollment certificate (available for download from iCGU).

Taiwan ID Number

Students entering Taiwan with a visitor visa (not able to apply for an ARC directly) could apply for a Taiwan ID number for banking or cell phone service.

Mainland Chinese Students

Mainland Chinese citizens entering Taiwan for study must apply for a “Visitor Visa” within 180 days of arrival in Taiwan. The following documents are required:
  1. Two color passport-size photos taken within the last two years.
  2. Mainland Resident Identity Card or Mainland Travel Permit (excluding Hong Kong and Macau Travel Permits).
  3. Certificate of Enrollment (must be issued within the past three months).
  4. Visa fee: NT$600.
