*Please note that visa issuance is an act of sovereignty. According to the "Statute Governing Issuance of R.O.C. Visas in Foreign Passport" and "Enforcement Rules for the Issuance of R.O.C. Visas to Foreign-Passport Holders", the R.O.C. reserves the right not to issue a visa and is under no obligation to disclose the reason. Application fee for non-issuance cases is non-refundable.

Description of Required Documents

1. Application Form:
  1. Fill out the online application form and print it out (please select: general visa applications → select resident visa & single entry).
  2. Please read the Q&A before filling out the form.

2. Two color passport-size photos:

Two color passport-size photos with a white background taken within 6 months.


3. Passport and one photocopy of it:

The passport must be valid for at least 6 months with blank pages left in it. One photocopy of the passport bio-page including the holder's picture is required.


4. Original and one photocopy of Health Certificate:
  1. Items Required for Health Certificate for Residence in Taiwan
  2. The health certificate should be issued within 3 months by one of the local hospitals designated by the Centers for Disease Control of Ministry of Health and Welfare of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) or by an authorized foreign hospital. Health certificates issued by foreign hospitals must be authenticated by an R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission.
  3. Please visit Taiwan Centers for Disease Control for the list of authorized hospitals overseas or contact the Embassies or Missions in your home country for the approved physician list.
  4. The health certificate may need to be notarized by the government agency in your country before submitting to Taiwanese Embassy / Representative Office for authentication.
  5. For taking health examination in Taiwan, it is recommended going to MacKay Memorial Hospital, Taipei Branch(台北馬偕紀念醫院)
    • Address: No. 92, Sec. 2, Zhongshan N. Rd., Taipei City 10449, Taiwan (Google map) The examination center is in the Peace Building. Please take elevator # 18, 19, or 20 to the 16th floor. See here for information.
    • Transport Information: Take the MRT from A7 to A1 (Taipei Station); then transfer to the red line at Taipei Station to R12 (Shuanglian Station, Exit 2) then walk to the hospital (3 minutes).
    • Time: 8 AM to 11 AM from Monday to Saturday or 1:30 PM to 4 PM from Monday to Friday.
    • Appointment: Not required (recommended to go in the morning for fewer patients)
    • Fee: NT$ 2,390
    • Documents: vaccination records (if any and should be in English or Chinese), original passport, 3 photos, and the medical form. Please visit here for more information on the Health Certificate.
    • Normally, the health certificate will be ready for you to collect after a week.

5. Original and one photocopy of admission permit:

Please submit the original Admission Letter issued by Chang Gung University and its copy.


6. Original and one photocopy of highest education diploma and transcripts:
  1. For diplomas and transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English, a Chinese-translation or English-translation is also required (must be authenticated by an R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission). 
  2. The transcript should contain the records of all courses you have taken.

7. Original and one photocopy of proof of financial support:
  1. Please provide recent bank statements indicating the account balances.
  2. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan, tuition waiver can be part of your financial certificates; however, the total amount must be more the NT$ 200,000. If the documents are not under your name, the sponsor must be your relative within the third degree of kinship. A birth certificate or household registration will be required to prove your relationship with the sponsor.

8. Original and one photocopy of letter of approval issued by university /college or competent authorities of education:
  1. During their stay, exchange students are required to follow the instructions of the “Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan.” 
  2. For university/college exchange students, a letter of approval issued by the university/college they intend to enroll in is required. 
  3. For senior high school students, a letter of approval issued by the Ministry of Education or city/county Bureau of Education is required.

9. Original and one photocopy of the overseas school’s record of enrollment:

The record of enrollment or student ID issued by the overseas school which the student is originally from.


10. Other supporting documents:
Full degree students:
The Documents listed below are required optionally (required on a case-by-case basis)
  1. The purpose for visiting Taiwan
  2. Consent from parents and the guardian in Taiwan
  3. Guarantee letter
  4. Police Criminal Record Certificate
  5. Language ability certificate
  6. Proof of registration fee payment for the first semester: payment slip is available in iCGU after mid-August or mid-February
    (only for TEEP students admitted by CGU for a degree-seeking program)
    .
  7. Recommendation letter signed by the TEEP host professor (template)
    (only for TEEP students admitted by CGU for a degree-seeking program)
    .
Exchange students:

To be decided on a case-by-case basis. Students who apply for a Resident Visa after having arrived in the R.O.C.(Taiwan) are required to present also one photocopy of the Visitor Visa and the immigration entry stamp.

For Indonesian Students

For 2+2 students

You should submit the required documents for the visa application like the above; however, the highest education diploma and transcripts are not required. Please submit the following documents to replace them (*These documents should be in English):

  1. The high school diploma.
  2. The official enrollment certificate issued by your home university.
  3. Transcripts of the first two academic years.

For Thai Students

Remarks

  1. Visa application should be submitted to the ROC Embassies and Missions Abroad.
  2. Do not use visa-exempt entry or landing visa to enter Taiwan. Please check with Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, R.O.C. and the ROC Embassies or Missions in your home country for the latest visa information and any supporting documents required.
  3. If you just graduated from other Taiwanese universities, please be sure to submit an application for an extension of your current Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) with CGU's admission letter, and send a copy of it to OIA.
  4. From our experience, some embassies or missions may issue visitor visas (with code: FS) to degree students instead of resident visas. In this case, students can enter Taiwan with the visitor visa first. After the registration, you can apply for a resident visa with the above required documents in Taiwan.
  5. Personal bank statements: it is highly recommended that students get them in their home country.
  6. If the financial statements are not in the name of the applicant, a declaration with signature from the sponsor must be provided, mentioning the relationship between the sponsor and the applicant and guaranteeing to support the applicant's whole expenses in Taiwan.
  7. Resident Visa holders (with code: FS) must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) within 15 days after arrival. CGU will submit the applications for all new students who are residents of Taoyuan after the registration day. Please pay attention to OIA's notification. Students living in other cities should submit the ARC application by themselves. For application procedure, please see Alien Resident Certificate webpage.

TEEP students who have been admitted as degree students of our university should prepare the required visa application documents and proceed directly to the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to apply for a resident visa.
