Program Introduction

The IIPP program, administered by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), offers short-term internships in Taiwan for international students to promote international research exchange and attract outstanding talents to pursue further studies or employment in Taiwan. Eligibility

  1. International students (excluding those from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau)
  2. Currently enrolled in an overseas undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral program
  3. Must provide proof of English or Chinese language proficiency

Application Deadlines

Based on the internship start date, three matchmaking deadlines are set for 2026:
  • February 13: For internships starting in June or July
  • April 15: For internships starting in August, September, or October
  • July 15: For internships starting in November or December
Applicants must complete the online matching process with a principal investigator (PI) on the IIPP platform by the relevant deadline. The PI must upload the Consent Form before the application can proceed to the second-stage review by the IIPP Office.

Internship Period

28 – 90 days

Funding Support

  • International students: Daily internship stipend of NT$1,000 (up to a maximum of 90 days)
  • Supervising professors: Administrative grant of NT$10,000 per intern hosted

Important Regulations

  • The internship period may not be changed or extended, unless due to force majeure or visa-related reasons
  • Submission of a final report and attendance record is required
  • Participants may not receive other government internship subsidies simultaneously
  • Transportation, visa fees, accommodation, meals, and insurance are to be covered by the student
  • Intellectual property rights related to internship outcomes shall be handled in accordance with university regulations
