Program Introduction

The MOE TEEP Program invites outstanding young talents worldwide to Taiwan for short-term research or internships, helping them gain insight into Taiwan’s higher education, research environment, and industry, and encouraging future degree studies in Taiwan. Eligibility

  1. Foreign nationals or overseas Chinese students
  2. Hold at least a high school diploma or above and have never obtained a doctoral degree
  3. Not currently pursuing a degree program or engaging in study/training in Taiwan, and intend to pursue a formal degree program in Taiwan in the future

Internship Period

  • Minimum: 2 months (60 days) - Maximum: 6 months (180 days)
  • For internships shorter than 2 months, a justification must be provided

Scholarship

  • Approximately NT$12,000–20,000 per month, subject to MOE regulations for the given year
  • If the internship period is less than one full month, the scholarship will be prorated based on actual days of participation

Application Procedure

  • Prospective applicants (foreign nationals or overseas Chinese students) are advised to visit the TEEP official website to review CGU’s available programs.
  • As application requirements vary by program, there is no standardized application form or fixed set of required documents.
  • Applicants are encouraged to contact the program coordinator or principal investigator (PI) directly to confirm the application process, required documents, and relevant details before submitting their application.

Important Regulations

  1. Participants are not allowed to engage in any paid work unrelated to the internship during the TEEP period.
  2. Off-campus internships must be arranged with the assistance of CGU and must not involve the provision of labor services.
  3. For students participating in this program for a second time, the principal investigator must state the reason in the MOE roster. The total accumulated scholarship period is limited to a maximum of 6 months.
  4. Participants staying in Taiwan for more than three months must submit a medical examination report. Please refer to the pre-arrival guidelines for relevant forms and instructions.
  5. Participants must provide insurance covering the entire internship period. The recommended minimum insurance coverage (claim amount) is USD 35,000 or above (approximately NTD 1,000,000).

Visa Regulations

  • Students who are required to apply for a Taiwan visa, or whose stay exceeds the visa-exempt period, must enter Taiwan with an FR (Visitor Internship) visa issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Visitor visas may be extended; however, the total stay in Taiwan must not exceed 180 days (excluding the day of arrival).
  • Visa applications may only be submitted after the participant roster has been filed with the MOE, together with official MOE documents.

Accommodation

  • CGU provides sufficient student dormitory rooms for TEEP participants.
  • Students are responsible for room cleaning fees, accommodation fees and bedding rental fees. Please refer to the pre-arrival guidelines for details.
