The Rocky Mountains and Your English Classroom | University of Calgary 2027 Winter Short-Term Program Info Session – Registration Open!

What if English lessons didn’t only happen inside the classroom? In winter 2027, move the classroom into the snowy landscape of Calgary, Canada.
This four-week immersive program combines language learning, cultural experiences, and homestay life, while also giving you the chance to see the Rocky Mountains’ year-round snow-covered peaks and glaciers, as well as the frozen, emerald-like surface of Lake Louise in Banff National Park.
Calgary’s winter also comes with a small twist. Known as the “snow eater,” the Chinook wind crosses the Rocky Mountains and can raise temperatures from well below freezing within just a few hours, even causing accumulated snow to melt.
The distance between you and a language can be a little like Calgary’s snow and wind. In just four weeks, English can become part of your daily life again, allowing you to use it more naturally and flexibly wherever you go.
