"Across Horizons: Exchange Student Video Contest" is now open for submissions until November 1. All interested students are welcome to register and participate!

I. Purpose
Chang Gung University (hereinafter referred to as “CGU”), in order to enhance students’ international mobility, broaden global perspectives, and promote multicultural exchange, is launching a short video competition for both domestic degree-seeking students and incoming exchange students. The competition aims to encourage students to share their overseas study or exchange experiences at CGU, promote cross-cultural understanding, increase students’ willingness to participate in overseas study programs, and showcase CGU’s friendly environment and international characteristics.

III. Eligibility and Video Themes
  • Theme 1: Domestic Students Share Their Overseas Exchange Experiences
    Eligible Participants: Current domestic degree-seeking students of CGU who have completed or are currently participating in overseas exchange/study programs in 2025 (programs organized by CGU, including semester/year exchange, dual-degree, or short-term credit programs).
  • Theme 2: International Exchange Students Share Their Experiences at CGU
    Eligible Participants: Eligible Participants: Current inbound international exchange students at CGU who are enrolled in a semester- or year-long exchange program.
IV. Video Content
Participants may freely choose their video direction based on their own exchange experiences in 2025. The video should cover one or more of the following aspects:
  1. Academic Experience: Courses, learning environment, teacher-student interaction, etc.
  2. Daily Life: Campus facilities, housing, transportation, food, etc.
  3. Cultural Exchange: Interaction with foreign/Taiwanese students, participation in student clubs, festival experiences, etc.
  4. Motivation & Future Development: Reasons for studying abroad/coming to Taiwan, and the impact of the exchange experience on future academic or career plans.
V. Video Specifications
  1. Length: 90 seconds to 3 minutes (including opening and ending).
  2. Format: MP4 or MOV; resolution at least 1920×1080 (HD), horizontal orientation.
  3. Originality: The video must be created, filmed, and edited by the participant. It must not have been entered into other competitions, publicly released, or awarded/subsidized elsewhere. If narration or dialogue is included, it should be in the participant’s native language, with English subtitles or bilingual (Chinese/English) subtitles provided.
  4. Equipment: No restrictions; filming period and location must be specified. 
  5. File size limit: 100 MB.
  6. Restrictions: Videos may not contain editing software watermarks or personal logos.
  7. Music: Must be original or licensed under Creative Commons, with proper attribution provided.
VI. Registration and Review Process
  1. Registration Method: Complete the registration form (https://forms.office.com/r/7Hp2s4FQFR) and upload your video. Deadline: November 1, 2025. Individual entries only; each person may submit one work. A signed “Copyright Declaration and Transfer Consent Form” (see attachment) must also be uploaded.
  2. Preliminary Review Criteria: Videos that align with the competition’s purpose, contain positive and healthy content, do not infringe intellectual property rights, and meet technical requirements (length, subtitles, etc.) will pass the preliminary review.
  3. Revision Mechanism: If the work does not meet review criteria, participants must make corrections within five (5) days from the date of notification by the Organizer. Failure to do so will be regarded as withdrawal.
  4. Public Release: Approved videos will be uploaded by the Organizer to the official “Chang Gung University” YouTube channel (@changgunguniversity) to ensure fairness and consistency in evaluation metrics.
VII. Awards and Evaluation
  1. Evaluation Method: Based on the number of unique viewers on YouTube. Each video must reach at least 200 viewers to qualify. Viewer counts will be calculated by the Organizer’s backend system as of 11:59 p.m., December 10, 2025.
  2. Awards (per theme group):
    • 1st Prize: NT$10,000 + Certificate
    • 2nd Prize: NT$8,000 + Certificate
    • 3rd Prize: NT$6,000 + Certificate
    • Outstanding: NT$2,000 + Certificate
  3. Award Limitations:
    • If fewer than five (5) participants register under a theme, the Organizer may merge the theme with the other category for joint evaluation, or withhold awards for that theme.
    • Regardless of whether categories are merged, the total number of awardees shall not exceed 20% of the total number of participants. The Organizer may also adjust or withhold awards depending on the quality or number of entries.
    • The Organizer reserves the right to make final modifications, changes, interpretations, or cancellations regarding the prizes, awards, and the Event.
VIII. Announcement of Results
Competition results will be announced on the website of the Office of International Affairs by December 15, 2025. Awardees must complete the prize collection process at CGU within the specified period. Those unable to collect prizes in person will be deemed to have forfeited their awards.

IX. Funding Source
The expenses related to this competition will be covered by the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Sprout Project or CGU’s budget, and will be handled in accordance with Ministry of Education and University regulations.
