Safeguarding Campus Health and Safety: Tuberculosis Prevention

All faculty, staff, and students are requested to work together to implement tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control measures. To maintain a healthy and safe campus and provide a favorable learning and working environment, the University continues to implement campus TB prevention and control measures in accordance with the measures of the health authorities.
1. Strengthen Tuberculosis Prevention and Health Management
Tuberculosis is primarily transmitted through the air, and the risk of transmission may increase in poorly ventilated or enclosed environments. Please pay attention to your health. If you have a cough lasting for more than two weeks, particularly if accompanied by phlegm, chest pain, fever, night sweats, loss of appetite, or weight loss, it is recommended that you seek medical evaluation as soon as possible. If you are diagnosed with active pulmonary tuberculosis, please follow your physician’s treatment instructions and take your medication regularly.
2. Complete Health Examinations and Follow Up on Abnormal Findings
Please complete pre-employment, enrollment, and periodic health examinations for newly appointed faculty and staff and students in accordance with applicable regulations. If an abnormality is identified on a chest X-ray, please follow the University’s relevant follow-up procedures and cooperate with subsequent referrals, repeat examinations, and follow-up monitoring.
3. Cooperate with Health Authorities in Epidemiological Investigations and Contact Screening
If a suspected or confirmed case of tuberculosis occurs on campus, the University will cooperate with local health authorities in conducting epidemiological investigations and contact screening in accordance with applicable regulations. Individuals identified as contacts are requested to cooperate with the relevant examinations and, when necessary, screening or evaluation for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI).
4. Maintain Good Indoor Ventilation
All units are requested to maintain adequate indoor air circulation, avoid prolonged stays in enclosed or poorly ventilated environments, and regularly clean and maintain air-conditioning equipment, filters, and air outlets according to the condition of the equipment and premises. In classrooms, offices, and other indoor spaces, doors and windows may be opened as appropriate, or other suitable ventilation measures may be adopted based on the actual environment.
5. Practice Daily Health Protection
Please work together to maintain good indoor air circulation and practice proper cough etiquette. Take appropriate protective measures based on your health condition and the surrounding environment. If you develop a persistent cough or other suspected symptoms, please seek medical evaluation as soon as possible.
6. Stay Alert: Early Detection and Early Treatment
Tuberculosis is a treatable disease. Appropriate medical evaluation, early diagnosis, and completing treatment as prescribed by a physician can help control the disease and reduce the risk of transmission.

Relevant case information will be handled appropriately in accordance with applicable personal data protection and communicable disease prevention and control regulations. Please do not disseminate unverified health information, self-diagnose, or panic unnecessarily, and refrain from stigmatizing or discriminating against suspected or confirmed cases.

Tuberculosis prevention and control requires the participation of the entire campus community. We sincerely appreciate the cooperation of all faculty, staff, and students in implementing health management and disease prevention measures and working together to maintain a safe and healthy campus environment.
