2025 Fall GIBMS SEMINAR-20250926 Hsuan-Yu Chen Ph.D.Tr. Chen's CV: https://www.stat.sinica.edu.tw/cht/index.php?act=researcher_manager&code=view&member=6 Title: From Air to Cells: The Genomic Impact of Environmental Carcinogens Abstract: High-throughput sequencing enables the detection of changes and variations across multiple molecular levels, including the genome, transcriptome, and epigenome etc. It is a powerful tool in the era of precision medicine. Our core competency lies in leveraging data science concepts and analytical methods to uncover significant patterns in large, complex molecular datasets. Over the past several years, our work has addressed critical challenges in this field. We reported the first evidence of associations between the exogenous exposome (environmental carcinogens) and tumorigenesis in never-smoking lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Additionally, we identified the endogenous exposome, specifically APOBEC, in early-onset, non-smoking female LUAD, which exhibited a stronger response to immunotherapies. This talk will also explore the genomic impact of environmental carcinogens across ethnic groups.
