Chang Gung University, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, and Ming Chi University of Technology jointly organized the "Three-University Joint USR Exhibition." Representatives and participating teams from the three universities took a group photo together, demonstrating their action-oriented approach to cross-institutional collaboration and deep local engagement.
Section Chief Huang Hsiang-Han from the Social Responsibility Section of the Office of Sustainable Development guided VIP guests and explained Chang Gung University's practical achievements in areas such as health care, regional revitalization, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability.
Universities not only impart knowledge but also serve as a driving force for solving local problems and creating change. With the theme "Seeing Change in the Local Community," Chang Gung University, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, and Ming Chi University of Technology jointly held the "Three-University Joint USR Exhibition." The opening ceremony was held on August 19 in the B1 Special Exhibition Room of the Formosa Plastics Group Museum at Chang Gung University. The exhibition runs until December 27, and is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed on Mondays. People from all walks of life are welcome to visit and witness the real changes created by the collaboration between the universities and local communities.
This exhibition gathers the practical achievements of the three universities in aspects such as health care, child and youth education, regional revitalization, cultural preservation, environmental sustainability, support for the disadvantaged, and international exchange. The main visual incorporates elements such as forests, farmlands, waters, and diverse ethnic groups, symbolizing how the three universities, starting from different professional fields, have established profound partnerships with local communities through long-term accompaniment, mutual learning, and joint practice.
Chang Gung University, centered on "Partnering with Communities: Deepening Local Impact," promotes social practice from three major aspects: health care, local development, and support for the disadvantaged. The university integrates the resources of the Chang Gung medical system along with its research and teaching capacities to promote elderly health, smart care, early childhood intervention, indigenous health promotion, and diabetic foot care. It also utilizes technologies like artificial intelligence and virtual reality to improve the accessibility of health services. In terms of local sustainability, it continuously conducts ecological surveys of the campus and surrounding woodlands, transforming the results into environmental education materials, and promotes innovative utilization combined with Guishan's featured agricultural products and "ugly" (NG) ingredients; meanwhile, it invests in work empowerment and peer support for people with disabilities, building a more inclusive community support network.
Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, with the main themes of "Diverse New Horizons: Partnering with Chiayi Migrants" and "Taking Root Locally: Social Symbiosis," brings professions such as nursing, health care, early childhood education, and elderly services into Chiayi and surrounding communities. Through health promotion, dietary education, cultural exchange, and international cooperation, the team fosters understanding and inclusion among different ages and ethnic groups. It also focuses on high-quality education for children, intergenerational family interaction, and AI smart therapy, organizing activities like children's learning, companionship for the elderly, and health education. By participating in community services, students apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world settings, enhancing their skills in communication, problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, thereby forging a closer connection between talent cultivation and local needs.
Ming Chi University of Technology, focusing on "Caring for Society with University Energy: Local Connection and International Practice," takes action from the perspectives of natural environment, community culture, industrial sustainability, and international exchange. The team combines the characteristics of forests and waters in Northern Taiwan to promote environmental education, and implements community international cultural exchanges and English literacy enhancement programs to create opportunities for cross-cultural interaction. Furthermore, the university introduces engineering, design, and management expertise to local areas, assisting communities and industries in exploring ESG and sustainable transformation. Simultaneously, it invests in the restoration of traditional cultural artifacts, technical training, and design co-creation, ensuring that local culture is not only preserved but also integrated into contemporary life through innovative forms.
The Office of Sustainable Development at Chang Gung University stated that although the three universities each possess different professional characteristics and practice fields, they share the same USR spirit: taking local needs as a starting point and working with communities to find solutions through long-term accompaniment, professional dedication, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Through images, texts, and practical cases, this exhibition presents the practical journey of teachers and students stepping out of the campus and diving into the community to transform teaching and research into responses to local needs. It also continues to expand the impact of University Social Responsibility through cross-institutional exchange and resource sharing.
