《Atayal Bamboo Cup Making》— Artisan Walisi Hayung from Fuxing District
Activity Content: This activity will guide students to gain an in-depth understanding of Atayal culture through hands-on experience. Given Taiwan's abundant bamboo forests, indigenous peoples historically used bamboo to create everyday utensils. In addition to bamboo houses and various agricultural, fishing, and pastoral tools, bamboo's hollow and segmented structure made it ideal for crafting tableware, such as bamboo cups and bowls. Bamboo cups were commonly used in ceremonies and for serving drinks to guests. In this activity, students will have the opportunity to decorate bamboo cups using the Atayal people's yellow vine weaving techniques, experiencing the beauty of traditional craftsmanship. The goal is for students to gain a deeper understanding of Atayal culture, foster a sense of cultural identity, and inspire respect for and the preservation of indigenous cultures. This will enhance students' sensitivity to cultural diversity, cultivate a diverse set of values, and align with the spirit of our university's University Social Responsibility (USR).

《The Ocean Journey of Marine Debris》 — Xu Jinyuan, Marine Education Seed Lecturer, Society of Wilderness**

This lecture features Xu Jinyuan from the Society of Wilderness, who will guide us in understanding the importance of marine conservation!

The vast and beautiful ocean has always captivated people, nurturing diverse marine life and sustaining many coastal communities. However, as human activities intensify, an overwhelming amount of waste is flowing into the sea, endangering marine ecosystems. Walking along the shoreline, we often see colorful litter scattered everywhere, reminding us of the severity of marine pollution. It is crucial to understand how this waste affects marine life and damages the ocean's natural beauty.

Through this lecture, we hope to inspire action, encouraging everyone to take part in restoring the ocean to its pristine state.

《Atayal Bow and Arrow Pendant Crafting》— Fuxing District Artisan Walis Hayung

This activity offers a hands-on experience to help students understand Atayal culture. In Atayal mythology, the bow and arrow play a significant role in the legend of shooting down the sun and hold an important place in Indigenous hunting traditions. A skilled hunter must have their own bow and arrow. Traditionally, the bow and arrow were an essential part of Indigenous life—not only as a weapon for defending against external threats but primarily as a tool for hunting and gathering. They symbolize a man's ability to protect his tribe and ensure survival.
