Mayor Zhang Shanzheng stated that through promoting source reduction combined with technology enforcement, Taoyuan City has effectively reduced the emissions of air pollutants within its jurisdiction. Additionally, in response to international trends, the city proactively joined the Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA). Under the city's active promotion of various air quality improvement strategies, the air quality has shown a trend of gradual improvement in recent years. As of October 2023, the ratio of Air Quality Index (AQI) <100 has reached 96.3%. Furthermore, concerning PM2.5, which is of utmost concern to the public, it has remained below the national air quality standards for four consecutive years. The latest concentration has decreased to 12.7 μg/m3, demonstrating significant improvement in air pollutants in Taoyuan, far below national regulatory standards.
According to the Taoyuan City Environmental Protection Bureau, the winning organizations at this awards ceremony have made outstanding contributions to reducing air pollution. The remarkable achievements of Taoyuan City are attributed to the collaborative efforts of the municipal government team, which has simultaneously implemented multiple measures to enhance the city's air quality. Chang Gung University will continue its efforts in reducing air pollution, striving to create a higher-quality campus environment.
