Learning in English, Working Abroad A Practicum Visit to Tokyo
The Department of Health Care Management visited Hokusai Clinic, Hanamaru Pharmacy Tokyo, Rack Sumida Home-Bath Care and Juntendo University to check in with our practicum and exchange students, and to deepen international partnerships.

Overview
The Department has established practicum agreements with Hokusai Clinic, Hanamaru Pharmacy Tokyo and Rack Sumida Home-Bath Care, and signed an MOU with Juntendo University. This year we sent 7 students to Tokyo for practicum and 4 graduate students to Juntendo University on exchange. In July, Prof. Wen visited each partner institution to present letters of appreciation, meet with our students on-site, and discuss future collaboration.

An All-English Exchange Environment
Juntendo University's Faculty of International Liberal Arts is taught entirely in English and hosts students from around the world—our exchange students learn in a fully English-medium setting.

Trilingual Weekly Reports
Students write weekly practicum reports in Chinese, English and Japanese, documenting professional learning while strengthening their language skills.

Confidence in Cross-Cultural Communication
By working in English and Japanese with supervisors and international peers, students build real-world communication skills and the confidence to speak up.

Building Global Mobility
First-hand exposure to Japan's healthcare and long-term care systems broadens students' international outlook and enhances employability.
Outcomes

Sustaining Partnerships
Prof. Wen visited six overseas practicum partners—four medical / long-term care institutions and two community and cultural organizations—presenting letters of appreciation and gifts to acknowledge their support.

Deepening Exchange Ties
Juntendo University praised the performance of our exchange students and is exploring extending the exchange to undergraduates and to faculty collaboration.

Learning from Japan's Long-Term Care Experience
Faculty and students learned from Japan's community-based long-term care and aging-in-place practices, and invited partner leaders to visit Taiwan for continued exchange.
