GIBMS started the Master’s degree program in 1993, and the Doctoral program in 1997.  We aim to educate graduate students in basic, clinical, and applied aspects concerning the biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, physiology and pharmacology, natural products, as well as infectious diseases and immunity.  Recently, we also integrate basic research and the state-of-the-art techniques in multi-omics informatics & intelligence computation.  Currently, we have 99 faculty members with diverse research expertise and interests.  The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:2 and 1:1 for Master and PhD program, respectively.  Based on the faculty's intellectual prowess, we provide 31 English courses covering all major fields and modern techniques in biomedical sciences.  The courses regarding scientific writing and academic ethic are also available.  Chang Gung University also has extensive core facilities, providing an array of shared research resources and services to the faculty and students.  The core laboratories include genomics/proteomics/metabolomics/bioinformatic cores, experimental animal core, and molecular imaging core center.  The tight collaboration between faculty members and doctors in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital ensure strong clinical impact of our research.  The wide range research interests and resources of our faculty members facilitate the knowledge spectrum and research progress of our graduate students.  Thus, GIBMS has a history of excellence in teaching and research.  With devoted faculty, state of art facilities, and ample funding resources, we aim to provide an excellent training environment and experience to our graduate students.

a. Division of Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology (MS and PhD programs)--The Biochemistry & Cellular Molecular Biology division offers a broad range of biomedical and basic research topics using the analytical tools of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and proteomics, as well as model organisms including yeast, Drosophila, Zebrafish, and mice.  The research interests of the faculty members include DNA replication, gene regulation, cell differentiation, neural development, protein chemistry, signal transduction, tumor biology, and molecular epidemiology.  Courses are designed to build a solid foundation in biochemistry, molecular, and cell biology. b. Division of Microbiology and Immunology (MS and PhD programs)--The division of Microbiology offers a research program focusing on microbial pathogenesis and host immune responses. Faculty interests include basic research on the genetics and molecular biology of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms, microbial pathogenesis, virology, immunology, vaccine development, cancer research, and bioinformatics. Collaboration among different biomedical laboratories is further promoted by the close proximity of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. The division offers courses in advanced bacteriology, immunology, parasitology, and virogy. Courses on introductory and advanced bioinformatics are also offered. c. Division of Physiology and Pharmacology (MS and PhD programs)--The division of Physiology and Pharmacology encourages integrated interdisciplinary approaches and offers courses in both basic subjects (Physiology, Pharmacology, and anatomy), and specialized courses (neurosciences, circulatory system, and respiratory system). Research topics in this division include physiological and pharmacological study of the nervous, endocrine, respiratory or cardiovascular system, and molecular mechanisms of aging, cancer, diabetes, drug addiction, along with research to advance drug delivery using nanotechnology. d.Division of Multi-Omics Informatics & Intelligence Computing(MS programs)--The "Division of Multi-Omics Informatics & Intelligence (DMOiic)" is a new division of GIBMS established in 2022. DMOiic has 15 full-time faculties with expertise in Multi-omics research. The courses offered by DAMOiic are not only based on theory but also provide a series of practical classes in three major disciplines: "Proteomics and Metabolomics Data Analysis and Application," "Health Informatics Data Analysis and Application," and "Multi-Omics Data Integrated Analysis and Application." We aimed to train graduates equipped with multi-omics data/process analysis skills who can meet the job market requirements. e. Division of Biotechnology (PhD program)--The program of Biotechnology focuses on both fundamental theory and practical applications, aiming to establish a goal oriented teaching and research environment. The division offers courses and research opportunities in nano-biotechnology, biomedical material science, medical molecular diagnostics, biological detection and measurement, and medical laboratory technology. f. Division of Natural Products  (PhD program)--The division of Natural Medicines offers a research and education program focusing on traditional herbal medicines (TCM) and natural products. The division combines experts in biopharmaceutics, natural product chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and biochemistry to form a modern pharmaceutical research system. We coordinates with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and establish a comprehensive New Drug Center for research and development of TCM and natural medicines. g. The International Division of Medical Research (MS and PhD programs)--The International Division of Medical Research (IMR) is an interdisciplinary Graduate Master's Program in the Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences (GIBMS) and is a leading integrative biomedical graduate program involving six disciplines (Biochemistry, Molecular & Cellular Biology; Microbiology & Immunology; Physiology and Pharmacology; Biotechnology; Multi-Omics, Informatics & Intelligence Computing; Natural Products). The IMR-GIBMS provides a strong foundation for advanced biomedical training and career development opportunities.Students admitted to the IMR-GIBMS may choose an adviser from among the professors who are members of the GIBMS.
