[Scientific Breakthrough] The latest research from Center For
Sustainability And Energy Technologies (Chang Gung University)published in Advanced
Science (IF: 15.1) demonstrates the exceptional performance of the Ag3BiI6
material in photocatalytic CO2 reduction.
The study successfully synthesized various Silver Bismuth Iodide (SBI)
materials via gas-solid phase reactions, with Ag3BiI6 showing superior activity
in CO2 photoreduction. This material not only features a suitable bandgap and
excellent band-edge positions but also contains the numbers of delocalized Ag
ion. That facilitates the significant photo-triggered surface potential changes
and charge carrier transport behavior, thereby reducing charge recombination at
vacancies and achieving high production rates of CO and CH4. Ag3BiI6 offers a
new approach to addressing environmental pollution and sustainable energy
crises, providing an effective strategy against global warming. These findings
pave the way for innovative solutions to climate change and energy-related challenges.
