Notes on the Use of the “Chang Gung Medical Research Grant”

1. The allocation of the “Chang Gung Medical Research Grant” shall be carried out in accordance with the “Chang Gung Medical Research Grant Management Guidelines” (see the attachment). All PIs are requested to use the funds strictly in accordance with these regulations. If the regulations are amended in the future, please comply with the latest version announced by the funding institution. 2. Article 1.2, Section (3) of Chapter 1 stipulates: (1) Regular full-time faculty members/researchers under Chang Gung University or Chang Gung University of Science and Technology who are also co-appointed researchers with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital are eligible for funding. (2) Additionally, their external academic research projects must include at least one individual who meets the criteria of being either: A. A regular staff member under Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, or B. A clinical professor/associate professor/assistant professor at Chang Gung University or Chang Gung University of Science and Technology (i.e., a part-time attending physician at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and a full-time faculty member at either university), acting as a co-principal investigator. 3. Article 5.2 of Chapter 5 stipulates: All approved expenditures must follow the hospital’s regulations and standards. External funds should be used up before drawing from the grant. In other words, for grant numbers with abbreviations ending in “T,” external funds must be spent first. 4. Article 6.2, Section (3) of Chapter 6 stipulates: If the PI resigns or retires (excluding those rehired as consultants), the use of the grant will cease starting one month prior to the resignation/retirement date, and the accounting department will proceed with final settlement. If the expenditures exceed the total of the allocated matching grant and BMRP balance, the PI shall be personally responsible for repayment. If there is still a remaining balance in the BMRP, it will be closed on the date of resignation/retirement, the case will be permanently closed, and no further applications or expenditures will be permitted. The term “cessation of fund use” as referred to in these regulations also includes any expenditure vouchers dated within one month prior to the PI’s resignation or retirement. 5. For other matters regarding the use of the “Chang Gung Medical Research Grant” (including the annual grant and BMRP), PIs are requested to carefully read and follow the provisions of the Regulations for the Management of the Grant.

Points to Note Regarding Project Fund Disbursement for CXRP.

1.PIs are requested to itemize the funding requirements specified by the regulation "長庚醫學研究計畫作業管理辦法" (as in Annex 1). Please itemize the consumables required for research (common items as listed in Annex 2) in detail in the project proposal (template as in Annex 3 is for reference only, not a formal items). 2.Any changes to subsidized items must be approved before disbursement. 3.PIs are required to strictly comply with the above regulations. Important Notice – Key Review Criteria for Joint Appointment Applications at CGMH

To ensure the joint appointment meets its objectives and enhances institutional collaboration, applicants are advised to carefully review the following key points: ●New Joint Appointments 1.Applicants must be employed full-time faculty members. Retired or resigned individuals are not eligible for joint appointments. 2.Proposed KPI must meet or exceed the target benchmarks set by CGHM. 3.For applications based on collaborative research projects, applicants are encouraged to initiate the process early and provide documentation of existing collaborations. Extended or renewed projects will not be counted as valid indicators of collaboration. 4.For applications based on co-authored academic publications, either the applicant or the collaborating hospital faculty must be listed as the first author, co-first author, corresponding author, or co-corresponding author. The recognized publication date will be based on the online publication date. ●Renewal of Joint Appointments 1.Renewal applications will be subject to evaluation of previous performance. If the self-defined KPIs were not achieved, the joint appointment will be suspended for a minimum of one year. 2.For performance indicators based on co-authored publications, only those papers published in SCIE journals that were accepted or officially published during the appointment period will be considered. Manuscripts under submission or review will not be accepted. The journal’s ranking and impact factor should be based on the latest JCR (Journal Citation Reports) data. 3.For performance indicators based on joint patent applications, CGMH must be listed as one of the assignees on the patent certificate. ●Reapplication After Termination or Lapsed Appointment Applicants who wish to reapply following a termination or interruption (e.g., due to expiration without immediate renewal) must undergo a comprehensive review of prior performance and recent collaborative activities. To demonstrate sustained and meaningful engagement, it is strongly recommended that applicants have at least one publication and an ongoing collaborative project before submitting a new application.
