Research Interests
Our research focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms by which microbial virulence factors influence host immune defense responses. We have investigated bacterial toxins associated with pathogenesis, particularly from Helicobacter pylori, Campylobacter jejuni, Clostridioides difficile, and Clostridium innocuum. Recently, our laboratory has broadened its research to explore the impact of environmental pollutants, including PM2.5, microplastics, and carbon black, on microbial infections, host immune defenses, and microbiota composition. Through an interdisciplinary approach, we aim to uncover novel insights into the complex interactions between environmental factors, microbial pathogens, and the immune system, ultimately contributing to the development of innovative strategies for disease prevention and treatment.
