August 18–29, 2025 Nursing Students from Okayama University, Japan, and CGU Jointly Participate in the “Cross-culture and Exchange Program”

From August 18 to 29, 2025, the Department of Nursing at Chang Gung University (CGU) hosted the “Cross-cultural Exchange Program,” led by Dr. Shih-Ying Chen. The program brought together CGU juniors and nursing students from Okayama University, Japan, focusing on medical-surgical and geriatric care through lectures, clinical visits, and group projects.
Students visited oncology, geriatric medicine, cardiovascular examination, proton therapy, and dementia care units, as well as the Chang Gung Health and Culture Village and Evergreen Nursing Home. They also explored traditional Chinese medicine and medical simulation technologies. Highlights included observing proton therapy equipment, learning about age-friendly environments and long-term care resources, and understanding the preparation of herbal medications.
Through discussions and final presentations, students reflected on cultural differences in patient care, broadening their clinical perspectives and building confidence in global healthcare engagement—aligning with CGU’s mission to cultivate nursing professionals with international vision.
