【Courses】Library Summer Online Lecture – OA journal publishing Guide, AI-Assisted Systematic Review Tools and JoVE Video Resources. Welcome to participate.

To help faculty members and students stay informed about academic publishing trends, improve research efficiency, and make effective use of digital learning resources, the library will host three online academic lectures during the summer break. Topics include OA journal publishing and APC discounts, AI-assisted systematic reviews, and applications of JoVE video resources in research and teaching.  Welcome to participate and register online!
  1. Lecture 1: OA Publishing Guide: Understanding IEEE and Elsevier APC Discounts and Submission Processes
  2. (1) Date: July 14 (Tuesday) 10:00-11:00 AM 
    (2) Speaker: Lecturers from Elsevier and Hinton Information Services
    (3) Lecture Introduction: This session introduces the Article Processing Charge (APC) discount programs and Open Access (OA) publishing workflows offered by Elsevier and IEEE. It aims to help participants understand the latest publishing policies, available institutional benefits, and how to make effective use of APC support opportunities.

  3. Lecture 2:  AI-Assisted Systematic Reviews:  Practical Applications and Case Sharing
  4. (1) Date: July 28 (Tuesday) 10:00-12:00 AM
    (2) Speaker: Lecturer at FlySheet Med-Informatics Co.,Ltd
    (3) Lecture Introduction: This session explores how AI-powered tools can enhance the efficiency of conducting Systematic Reviews (SRs). Using ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM, and Rayyan as examples, the speaker will illustrate   applications such as research question analysis, PICO element identification, literature screening, abstract summarization, and data extraction. Participants will gain insight into AI tools throughout the systematic review process, helping to improve research efficiency.

  5. Lecture 3: JoVE Video Resources: Enhancing Research Efficiency and Innovative Teaching Practices
  6. (1) Date: August 11 (Tuesday) 10:00-11:00 AM
    (2) Speaker: Lecturer at JoVE
    (3) Lecture Introduction:  This session introduces the features and resources of the JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments) video journal platform. Participants will learn practical search and usage techniques and explore real-world examples of how JoVE resources can be applied in research, teaching, and innovative course design. The session aims to help faculty members and students make effective use of video-based learning resources to enhance research efficiency and teaching effectiveness.

Registration and Participation:
  • Registration Method: Log in iCGU→Campus Activities / Library Summer Online Lecture Sessions
  • Participation in each session qualifies for credit-hour toward Teaching Quality Enhancement Program. Please use your Office365 school account and log into the Teams Meeting at least 5 minutes before the lecture starts.
  • Courses shall be held physically in the library as well as online via TEAMS speaking Mandarin. There is no need for online participants to sign in or out. Attendance will be based on system records of participant’s joining and leaving the virtual meeting room. Participants who join 5 minutes after the official session start-time, or leave 5 minutes before the official end-time, or who fail to leave the virtual meeting room within 10 minutes after the end-time without any interaction (e.g., speaking or chatting), will not receive credit-hours.
