Medical Design

Program Coordinator: Dr. Shih-Ying Chien

The healthcare and medical industry is a key focus for talent development in advanced nations, especially in light of global aging trends and the growing scarcity of medical resources. There is an urgent need for innovative thinking to develop high-efficiency, low-cost solutions. In recent years, the Taiwanese government has identified the healthcare sector as a strategic industry with strong future competitiveness. For example, long-term care has been designated as one of the four emerging industries in Taiwan’s national economic development vision. This highlights the immense future demand for medical and healthcare-related products and services in Taiwan. However, there remains a significant gap between the foundational research in medical design and the talent required by the industry. To address this issue, our college has established the Medical Design Program to strengthen undergraduate students’ professional knowledge and technical skills in the field of medical design. The program also supports students in obtaining certification upon completion, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the job market.
