Beyond restoring vision through countless surgical procedures, he courageously stepped beyond the clinical arena to explore the frontiers of medical science. In 2023, Dr. Kang traveled to Columbia University in the United States, where he trained under internationally renowned physician-scientist Professor Nan-Kai Wang, dedicating himself to translational research in ophthalmology.
During this cross-continental research journey, Dr. Kang collaborated closely with Professor Wang and the laboratory of Professor Chi-Nu Tsai, engaging in numerous virtual discussions that helped uncover important insights into retinal neurodegeneration and cellular metabolism. His outstanding research achievements were published in the prestigious international journal Science Advances, demonstrating remarkable scientific rigor and global impact.
