1. Purpose

To develop AI-related technologies and research, the AI Research Center of Chang Gung University (hereinafter referred to as "AIC") collaborates with other university research centers, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and other entities on innovative AI applications. The Center also participates in AI projects with the Formosa Plastics Group, gradually establishing AI server room facilities, known as the “Pán Shí” platform.

To ensure the efficient utilization of the Pán Shí platform resources, the platform provides services through the xPortal platform, which offers virtual machine deployment (OpenStack) and container management (Kubernetes). The services provided include:

  1. CPU computing services
  2. GPU computing services
  3. Data storage services

These services are available to Formosa Plastics Group, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, the university, and other entities for teaching, research, and product development. This guideline is established in accordance with the "Chang Gung University Equipment and Resources Management Rules."

2. Instrumentation and Service Platform

AIC is equipped with the following instruments and equipment to provide services:

  1. Four AI high-performance computing (HPC) servers
  2. One HPC computation server
  3. Two CPU computation servers
  4. One data storage system

These facilities offer approximately 264 CPU cores, computational power equivalent to 40 Nvidia Tesla V100 GPUs, and 1,000 TB of data storage capacity.

3. Service Methods

In order to maintain the normal operation of the Pán Shí. Platform, AIC exclusively uses xPortal for service deployment. The platform offers three different service models, with the corresponding solutions provided as follows:

(1) CPU Computing Service:

Plan Type CPU Cores Memory (GB) Working Space (GB)
A-1 2 16 100GB

(4) If a 3-year contract is signed, a 10% discount will be applied to the pricing standards.

5. Application Procedure

Applicants for the Pán Shí Platform services must complete an application form. Upon approval, it will take approximately 1–2 business days to gain access to the platform. The process is as follows:

(1) Download the application form from the center's website and fill it out. Once completed, please email it to the designated email address ().
(2) After the application is approved, the system will send a notification to the applicant's email. It will take about 1–2 business days to access the management page and begin using the platform.
(3) At the end of each month, the system will calculate the usage of services and time for each account. The center will issue a detailed billing statement, and the applicant must settle the payment to continue using the services.

6. Service Notices

  1. Since the billing is based on usage time, please consult the Chang Gung University Artificial Intelligence Research Center before applying.
  2. The center does not accept applications without prior consultation.
  3. Although the platform's storage system has a backup mechanism, applicants are advised to regularly back up their data. AIC will not provide compensation for data loss not caused by the platform.
  4. AIC does not interfere with the content of services executed by applicants. If the service involves illegal activities or copyright issues, AIC assumes no responsibility. Additionally, AIC reserves the right to terminate the applicant's account if a valid complaint is received.

7. Billing Method

At the end of each month, AIC will compile the plans and usage times executed by the applicant and send the details to the applicant's email. The applicant must confirm the details, sign, and stamp with either the project or company seal, and return it to AIC. AIC will then process the invoice and payment through the accounting office.

8. Revenue Management

To ensure AIC's sustainable development, equipment upgrades, and service quality improvement, all fees collected from Chang Gung University will be fully utilized by AIC. For services provided to Chang Gung Hospital and other units, 10% of the total income will be allocated as a management fee for the university, while the remaining 90% will be used by AIC.
Once the accounting office records the income, it will be used for equipment purchases or upgrades, staff salaries or bonuses, service quality improvements, maintenance costs for AIC operations, and consumables. All expenses will be handled in accordance with the university’s relevant regulations and procedures.

9. Paper Publications and Acknowledgments

For academic research utilizing the services of the Pán Shí  Platform, acknowledgment of the AIC’s support must be included in the acknowledgment section of published works.

10. Implementation Procedures

These guidelines shall be implemented upon approval by the university president and announced accordingly. The same procedure applies for any future revisions.
