Dr. Yaw Shin Ooi, currently an assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, specializes in utilizing genetic screening strategies, placing particular emphasis on the CRISPR/Cas system, to study host factors for RNA viruses. In recent years, he has characterized various viruses, including alphaviruses, flaviviruses, and enteroviruses. His lab is currently dedicated to investigating the molecular interactions between host factors and medically significant viruses transmitted by bats and mosquitoes. The goal is to pinpoint vulnerabilities that could be targeted for potential therapeutic interventions.
