1. English Requirements for Graduation for Undergraduate Students

(1). In order to enhance the English proficiency of its undergraduate students, Chang Gung University has established the English Graduation Requirement.
(2). All undergraduate students have to take one of the following English proficiency tests and meet its respective requirement before graduation.
  • Pass the High-Intermediate Test of GEPT
  • TOEFL score of 500 and above
  • iBT TOEFL score of 61 and above.
  • FLPT-English with an average score of 65 and above.
  • IELTS 5 and above.
  • TOEIC score of 600 and above.
  • LINGUASKILL score of 145 and above.
  • Other internationally recognized English proficiency tests of equivalent level (with relevant documentation required).
(3). Students who have met any of the listed testing requirements please bring the original score report and a copy and come to the Language Center to registrar the meeting of the English Graduation Requirement.
(4). To encourage students to pass the English graduation requirement early, starting from the 97th academic year, students who take and pass the above external English proficiency tests before the end of their junior year will receive a subsidy of NT$800 as a reward.
(5). In addition to the external English proficiency tests, students may also choose from the following methods:
  • Participate in the On-Campus English proficiency test to meet the English Graduation Requirement.
  • Complete a semester of remedial English course "English Workshop" and achieve a passing grade to meet the English graduation requirement. 
(6). The English Proficiency requirement is intended for students whose mother tongue is not English, and for students who are native English speakers have to show other kinds of proves of English proficiency, such as a SAT or ACT score report. 
(7). Graduate students of this university will have an English proficiency requirement set by their own departments or schools and are not subject to this regulation. 
(8). This regulation is approved by the Academic Affairs Meeting and will be published and implemented after being submitted for the president's approval. The same applies for any amendments.
 
 
 
2. Criteria for Waiving Freshman and Sophomore English Course
Undergraduate students can waive 2, 4 or 6 credits of English courses if they have taken any of the following English proficiency tests and met its respective criteria.
