Registration Now Open for Chang Gung University’s AY 2025–2026 Semester 2 “English-Medium Instruction” Workshop

To recruit international students and promote internationalization, Chang Gung University aims to enhance faculty members’ English-medium instruction skills and teaching quality. Experts and scholars in related fields will be invited to conduct discussions and hands-on practice sessions on English-medium instruction techniques, with the goal of improving the quality of EMI teaching at the University.
II. Objectives:
1. To support faculty members’ professional development.
2. To strengthen faculty members’ ability to teach fully in English.
III. Time:
June 24, 2026 (Wednesday), June 25, 2026 (Thursday), and June 26, 2026 (Friday), from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, for a total of 18 hours of workshop training.
Participants must sign in and sign out each day, attend the entire workshop, and pass the instructor’s certification evaluation in order to receive a certificate. Those who are unable to attend the full workshop should not register. Since participants will be required to conduct teaching demonstrations on stage according to the instructor’s schedule during the workshop, accepted faculty members should decide on their teaching demonstration topic and prepare the content on their own after registration is confirmed. Participants should also bring their own laptop or tablet during the training period to accommodate course activities and the teaching demonstration assessment on the afternoon of June 26.

VI. Eligible Participants and Number of Participants
1. Eligibility:
(1) Chang Gung University faculty members. Priority will be given to newly appointed faculty members, faculty members who have not previously received EMI certification, and faculty members who are already teaching EMI courses. Faculty members who are not newly appointed must obtain certification before the AY 2026–2027 EMI Teaching Incentive is issued; otherwise, they will not be eligible to receive the EMI Teaching Incentive for that academic year.
(2) Faculty members from Chang Gung University of Science and Technology and Ming Chi University of Technology.
2. Number of Participants:
One class will be offered. The workshop will be conducted in a small-class format, with fewer than 25 participants.
3. Certification:
After registration, Chang Gung University faculty members must attend the workshop in person and on time. Faculty members who attend the entire workshop and pass the selection/evaluation conducted by the workshop instructors will be certified by the Office of Academic Affairs as qualified “English-Medium Instruction” instructors.
VII. Implementation Method:
This workshop will be conducted through discussions and hands-on practice. Participating faculty members will be required to conduct a trial teaching session in English. The invited instructors include foreign consultants Allison Baker and William Jones from the Fulbright Taiwan Foundation for Scholarly Exchange’s office at National Central University, Director Huei-Ling Lin of the Bilingual Teaching and Learning Resource Center at Chang Gung University, and Director Hung-Che Chen of the Honors Program at Chang Gung University of Science and Technology.
