    National Sun Yat-sen University Bilingual Education Resource Center Opens Applications for the "Intercollegiate Bilingual Education Teacher Community" in 2025

To support the Ministry of Education’s EMI Bilingual Resource Center initiative, National Sun Yat-sen University aims to foster a support network for university faculty engaged in bilingual education. Through extensive and diverse exchanges, the program seeks to enhance teaching skills and confidence.     Spring Enrollment for the EMI Teacher Training Program at NTNU EMI Teaching Resource Center – Open for Teacher Registration

    The EMI Teaching Resource Center at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) invites CGU faculty members to participate in the Spring Session of the EMI Teacher Training Program, scheduled from March 3 (Monday) to May 16 (Friday), 2025. Below is a course overview. For further details, please visit the center’s official website. I. Training Content & Assessment Criteria Participants will complete the program using Moodle and Sensay, the center’s online learning platforms. The training consists of four modules and requires a total of 36 learning hours to meet the completion requirements. The four modules include: EMI Teaching Context: 12 hours EMI Teaching Approach: 12 hours EMI Intercultural Communication: 6 hours EMI Teaching Demonstration (including final presentation): 6 hours Total: 36 hours Make-up Deadline: June 13 (Friday) at 23:00 – All required coursework must be completed by this deadline; late submissions will not be counted. Participants who successfully complete the entire program will receive a certificate of completion. Those who partially complete the program will receive an attendance certificate (including completed hours), which can be credited towards future EMI training sessions. II. Course Structure & Learning Guide Course Overview: The EMI Teaching Resource Center offers a diverse range of EMI training resources, including asynchronous online courses, synchronous online sessions, in-person lectures, and workshops, designed to enhance faculty members' EMI teaching skills and academic English proficiency.     The EMI Teaching Resource Center at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) invites all CGU students to participate in the Spring Session of the EMI Academic English Talent and Leadership Course, which will take place from March 3 (Monday) to May 16 (Friday), 2025. Registration Information Registration Form: Opens on February 5, 2025 Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students from universities and colleges. Individuals interested in becoming EMI Teaching Assistants (EMI TAs). Proficient English speakers (recommended English proficiency level: B2 or above).     2025 NTNU Summer Overseas EMI Teacher Training Program

    Since the establishment of the EMI Teaching Resource Center at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), hundreds of domestic EMI teachers have been trained and certified. Recognizing the need for more advanced training for teachers who have already acquired some professional teaching techniques, the center has collaborated with The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) to develop a customized summer overseas training program. The program includes classroom observations of UT Austin faculty, workshops, lesson plan trial teaching, post-program implementation of lesson plans, and outcome tracking. The tuition fees for this program will be covered by NTNU. Program Schedule Dates: July 13 (Sunday) – July 26 (Saturday), 2025 (14 days, Central U.S. Time) Eligibility EMI teachers from domestic universities and colleges. Quota 20 participants. The final list of selected candidates will be determined by the selection committee of the EMI Teaching Resource Center. Application and Recommendation Process Application period: February 17 – April 17, 2025 (applications reviewed on a rolling basis until the quota is filled). Each department is allowed to recommend one EMI teacher at most. Application Procedure The recommending teacher must complete the application form, sign it, and obtain approval from their department head. Selected candidates will be notified by April 30, 2025 (Wednesday). Serve as an EMI consultant (included in NTNU’s EMI Expert Talent Pool). Conduct EMI workshops. Serve as an open classroom lecturer for lesson observations. Participate in the training program results presentation. Join an inter-university EMI professional teacher community within a year. NTNU faculty members must co-develop and co-teach an English for Academic and Specific Purposes course with foreign language faculty or the English Academic Literacy Center within one year after returning.     Call for Submissions: 2nd National EMI Innovative Teaching Course Video Competition at National Sun Yat-sen University – Registration Deadline Extended to February 21, 2025

    To enhance faculty members' English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) teaching capabilities and instructional quality, National Sun Yat-sen University is organizing the 2nd National EMI Innovative Teaching Course Video Competition. We invite faculty members from colleges and universities across Taiwan to submit innovative teaching videos showcasing EMI teaching methods. This competition aims to provide a platform for educators to observe and learn from one another. The details are as follows: 1.     NTU EMI Teaching Resource Center Hosts Three "EMI-TA Training Workshops" – Registration Now Open

    To support universities in cultivating the teaching skills of EMI Teaching Assistants (EMI TAs), the NTU EMI Teaching Resource Center is organizing the aforementioned workshops. Upholding the principles of resource sharing and collaborative learning, these workshops aim to enhance the implementation of EMI courses across institutions and improve the effectiveness of EMI teaching. The workshops consist of both online and in-person components. Participants must complete a two-hour online instructional video before attending the in-person workshop. The in-person session includes hands-on teaching experiences and specialized topic-based workshops. Each session has a limited number of spots available on a first-come, first-served basis.     Purpose: To continuously encourage teachers at colleges and universities nationwide to offer bilingual teaching courses and promote an all-English teaching environment, this subsidy plan has been revised (details in the attachment). Plan Information: (1) Application Period: From now until April 6, 114 (Sunday).     Purpose: To continually encourage teachers to form course development communities. Through discussions and sharing teaching experiences among teachers with expertise in the same field, this initiative aims to integrate core elements from foundational courses to advanced required and elective courses taught using EMI methodologies. It also seeks to develop syllabi for ESAP (English for Specific Academic Purposes) professional academic English courses. The EMI Teaching Resource Center plans to promote this program in the second semester of the 113th academic year (details in the attachment).
