Chang Gung University established the Respiratory Care Department in 1999 to address Taiwan's urgent need for respiratory therapists, becoming the first of its kind in Taiwan and outside the U.S./Canada. Initially, the program offered advanced education and training for students with medical backgrounds. Since 2006, it has also accepted students directly after high school. The program maintains rigorous standards, leading to a national license passing rate exceeding 90% and producing graduates highly sought after by employers.

Our undergraduate program at Chang Gung University aims to produce highly competent respiratory care professionals. We aim to provide students with deep expertise in respiratory care and the essential clinical skills required to excel in the field. Our curriculum emphasizes a strong understanding of interdisciplinary medical fields relevant to respiratory care. Additionally, we focus on developing students' abilities in problem-solving, independent learning, critical thinking, and analysis, ensuring they are well-prepared to face the complexities of modern healthcare environments.
