【Lecture Announcement】2025/10/14 (Tuesday) 10:30 AM " A Scientific Adventure Across Borders: The Journey of Developing Hydrogen Sensing Materials " –Professor Chih-Wei Hu, Institut de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Bordeaux (ICMCB-CNRS)

You are cordially invited to attend the Lecture of Sustainability and Energy Technologies. We are pleased to have Professor Chih-Wei Hu from Institut de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Bordeaux (ICMCB-CNRS) as our speaker. The topic of the lecture is " A Scientific Adventure Across Borders: The Journey of Developing Hydrogen Sensing Materials ". Further details are as follows:

1.Topic: A Scientific Adventure Across Borders: The Journey of Developing Hydrogen Sensing Materials

2.Speaker: Professor Chih-Wei Hu

3.Abstract:

Professor Chih-Wei Hu will share his more than decade-long scientific journey spanning Taiwan, Japan, and France, with a focus on the innovative development of hydrogen sensing materials. As an emerging clean energy carrier, hydrogen offers high energy density and eco-friendly properties. However, its use and storage pose potential safety risks, making the development of high-performance hydrogen sensing materials a central issue in global materials science.

After receiving his Ph.D. in Polymer Science from National Taiwan University, Professor Hu spent ten years at Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), where he specialized in nanomaterials and gasochromic sensing technologies, actively collaborating with academia, industry, and government sectors in Japan and Taiwan to promote material commercialization. More recently, he joined the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) to explore new mechanisms in sensing materials, reflecting a strong commitment to international exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration.

His talk will cover the full spectrum from fundamental material design and nanostructure synthesis to hydrogen visualization sensing solutions under extreme environments. Drawing on his multinational research experiences, he will highlight how materials science can drive energy safety and contribute to a sustainable future.
