Project Overview:
Artificial intelligence is the key technology to realize the smart factory in Industry 4.0. The realization of a smart factory needs to cover vertical integration of the manufacturing system, horizontal integration of the supply chain and digital integration of product life cycle management. Advanced planning and scheduling systems play a key role. The current scheduling systems in the market lack flexibility and cannot grasp the overall picture of production lines. As a result, production planners need to repeatedly adjust system parame-ters, and cannot achieve a smart factory. This proposal is an extension of the one-year project of the industry-academia collaboration program for advanced technology. Following the previous project and via the digital twin system, this project proposes a twoyear plan to build a smart factory for Nexcom’s industrial computer assembly production lines at both Huaya and Sanmin sites. In the first year, a digital twin system to support production planning and realize the vertical integration of a smart factory will be built through ar-tificial intelligence with expert domain knowhow. In the second year, material planning and order management will be considered and implemented to realize the horizontal integration of the supply chain. We collaborate with NEXCOM to implement the system in a demonstration field, build smart manufacturing in Taiwan, and promote a complete smart factory solution in Industry 4.0.
