History

March, 1973  
Mr. Yung-Ching Wang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Formosa Plastic Group, established Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH) at Lin-Kou in commemoration of his father, Mr. Chang-Gung Wang.

April, 1987
Establishment of Chang Gung Medical College (CGMC) and Chang Gung University College of Medicine.

November, 1992
The University was renamed to Chang Gung College of Medicine and Technology. Students of engineering and management started to enroll.

November, 1993
The Department of Chemical Engineering was established.

August, 1996
The Master program for the Department of Chemical Engineering was established.

July, 1997
The University was renamed again to Chang Gung University.

August, 1999
TThe department was renamed as Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, and the Doctoral program was established.
