代謝體學為後基因體世代的一門新興且熱門的研究領域，藉由全面性分析生命體的所有小分子代謝物，得以呈現因應生理或病理狀態所導致的代謝物譜型與標的代謝物濃度變化，此資訊可以全面且無偏執地反映現況，諸如疾病進度、治療成效、健康評估等，並可藉此開發出新穎的生物指標。退化性疾病，例如糖尿病，涉及多重致病危險因子的交互作用，代謝體學技術平台即為首選的研究方案，此次研討會邀請國內外專業學者結合臨床專業醫師，從研究擴展到臨床應用，全方位解讀代謝體學核心精神。
